Identity theft is the use of stolen personal details to commit crime, usually fraud. The harm can last years: credit, government services, and every account that trusted a reused password.
Unique secrets, MFA, care with personal information, and treating a data breach as a credential event. Individuals can start with IDCARE and their banks. Organisations still have APP 11 and NDB duties.
