Spam
Unsolicited bulk messages, usually ads. Not all spam is phishing. Plenty of phishing rides in the same tray.
Spam is unsolicited electronic messaging, typically advertising, blasted at a crowd. It is mostly a nuisance. It is also a popular wrapper for scams and malware.
Filter it, do not harvest addresses, and teach people that unsubscribe on a hostile mail is a confirmation of a live inbox. Report phishing as phishing, not as junk, if you want the SOC to see it.
